AVCL has vacancies for Board Directors to serve on its nine-member volunteer Board. AVCL refreshes part of its Board annually, with new directors appointed at its Annual General Meeting in October. Each Board Director is generally appointed for a term of 3 years. The appointment will be as a Board Director for both AVCL Fund Ltd and AVCL Ltd.
About the role:
- Participate in AVCL Board meetings and events, collaborating with other Board members and the Executive Officer.
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with a diversity of stakeholders, strengthening outcomes for AVCL and the broader community.
- Serve on a Board sub-committee to contribute to the strategic direction of AVCL through policy development and initiatives.
- Provide expertise to support AVCL’s mission, guiding strategic vision and ethical operations.
- Maintain oversight of financial sustainability, including budgeting, fundraising, and business development.
- Monitor performance to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, including managing potential risks.
Skills we are looking for:
- Capability in any of the following: business development; fundraising; marketing and communications; human resources; finance and risk; legal; entrepreneurship; philanthropy; stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to engage and initiate relationships with key stakeholders, including community-minded individuals and organisations, and prospective corporate and philanthropic
- Demonstrated ability to lead with high emotional intelligence and exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
- Awareness of potential challenges, and broader political, organisational and demographic landscape influences on organisational outcomes.
Time commitment: Preparation for and attendance at monthly meetings that are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month after business hours, via Zoom; with monthly subcommittee meeting (1 hour) also held by Zoom. An annual in-person meeting (AGM) is held in Wangaratta, and there are opportunities to participate in community events, AVCL events and program days.
