My name is Anthony Griffiths and I completed the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program over 2005-2006. My family and I have always been very community minded, and personally I have a passion for Environmental Sustainability, my local community and Local Government. The people that I met during AVCLP only reaffirmed my commitment to making North East Victoria a great place in which to live and work. Post AVCLP, I have been elected as a Councillor for the Rural City of Wangaratta and served two terms as Mayor (2010 & 2011).
Since graduating from AVCLP, I have participated in the Cranlana “thought leaders” program, and served on several regional and State Boards. My contribution to community continues as I currently sit on the North-East Waste and Resource Recovery Board, (a Victorian Statutory Authority Board), Alpine Valleys Community Leadership’s Board, on a Cemetery Trust and a Landcare Group.
The AVCLP provides community minded citizens with the tools to become very effective advocates for their communities and develop their confidence to create change. More than a decade later, I still use my learnings and networks from AVCLP in my current roles.
