    Program: Federation & Greater Hume

     



    Program Information:

    The Fischer Community Leadership Program is set to return to Federation and Greater Hume Councils in August 2024, with the program offering an immersive workshop format.

    Responding to the evolving needs of community members, the program will support participants with the flexibility to undertake the experience as a dynamic two-day workshop, with two further sessions to be delivered online.

    Participants will receive leadership training from facilitators and guest speakers, with a focus on building and strengthening core leadership skills. A key component of the program will involve project management, with participants undertaking the scoping and planning of small community-led projects.


    Dates:

    • Greater Hume Council – Workshop in Walla Walla, Friday 30 August & Friday 6 September 2024

    Online sessions: 7pm – Monday 23 September & Monday 30 September 2024

    • Federation Council – Workshop in Urana, Friday 13 September & Friday 20 September 2024

    Online sessions: 7pm – Monday 30 September & Tuesday 8 October 2024


    Key areas of learning will include: 

    • Understanding of personal leadership styles, strengths, and challenges.
    • Learnings from established community leaders.
    • Understanding of the three levels of government.
    • The importance of inclusion and diversity.
    • How to run an effective committee and effective meetings.
    • How to write a successful grant application.
    • How to use social media effectively for your community group.
    • The fundamentals of a community project.


    You should apply if you are: 

    • Are motivated to participate and engage in community life
    • Have a desire to use your skills to make a difference and enhance your community
    • Emerging and current community leaders, this could include:
      • Captains, coaches and other sporting leaders,
      • Local committee leaders
      • Emergency services volunteers
    • Can commit to attending all the workshops
    • Demonstrated connection to the LGA of delivery location (either live, work or belong to community organisations in the Council)
    • Ability to attend both full day sessions
    • Aged 18+

     

     Time Commitment:

    • 2 x 7 hr consecutive days as outlined above for either location; a dinner for participants will be arranged at a local venue, with meals and drinks at own costs.
    • 2 x evening zoom sessions as outlined above.

     

    Participant Contribution: 

    $60 (flexible payment arrangements available – please enquire with Program Coordinator)

    Late applications for Greater Hume will be considered through to Monday 19th August.

    Applications for Federation can be received through to Friday 30th August.
