Leadership for drought, climate and change

The North East Adaptive Futures Program invites people from across North East Victoria to explore new perspectives on leadership, collaboration and change. Grounded in the Ovens Murray Regional Drought Resilience Plan, the program uses drought as a lens for understanding broader regional pressures and possibilities. Participants will take part in immersive learning days and a regional study tour, creating space for insight, connection and practical action across workplaces, communities and industries.

  • Build a deeper understanding of drought as a systems-wide pressure shaping regional life.
  • Explore the dynamics that influence how local people, groups and sectors adapt in changing conditions.
  • Strengthen your ability to navigate complexity, collaboration and regional challenges.
  • Deepen your understanding of your own leadership approach and contribution.
  • Build meaningful connections across sectors, industries and towns.
  • Take part in a regional study tour that brings these ideas into practical, place-based learning.

The Leadership Program gives you tools to help improve your skillsets, abilities and different areas of development as a leader in our community.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Aged 18+
  • Living in or contributing to life in North East Victoria
  • Commitment to personal development and reflective learning
  • Interest in strengthening regional capability

Investment

Through funding provided, there is no cost to participants, though personal costs may be incurred undertaking travel.

Commitment

  • Opening Retreat must be attended
  • Participation within 80% of the program is needed
  • A shared commitment to curiosity and respect; participants are expected to engage openly, listen to different perspectives, and contribute to an environment where people feel safe to think, speak and learn.

Dates

Program days will be held across the Ovens Murray region. The Opening Retreat is compulsory, though staying overnight on-site for the retreat is optional.
