Applications are now open for the Regional Drought Leadership Program, inviting people from across Greater Hume Council and Snowy Valleys Council to strengthen their leadership and capability for drought-related action.
Drought is not a one-off event. It is an enduring feature of regional life, shaping communities, industries, landscapes and decision-making over time. While drought cannot be prevented, the decisions we make, the relationships we build and the way we work together all influence its impacts.
Against this backdrop, the program enables participants to engage with decision-makers, explore the policy landscape, strengthen their communication and leadership skills, and consider the role they can play in influencing drought-related action within their communities, organisations and industries.
Commencing in late August, the program includes workshops, local learning experiences and a three-day immersive visit to Canberra, exposing participants to the people, processes and institutions that shape drought responses.
Applications are welcomed from people across agriculture, business, community services, education, health, emergency management, natural resource management, local government and anyone from the broader community who is interested in strengthening the contribution they can make to shaping outcomes.
