Like others, we are grateful for the extraordinary efforts of volunteers, emergency services, agencies and organisations on the frontline in difficult and dangerous conditions, including the Country Fire Authority, Forest Fire Management Victoria, NSW Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service, Victoria Police, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Local Government, and many more.
Alongside these efforts has been the enduring spirit and action of community, reflected in the mateship and care shown by people, groups and businesses doing what they can, with what they have, to support one another.
Conditions will continue to evolve, with VicEmergency remaining the source for warnings and alerts. Response and recovery efforts will proceed in the immediate period and over the longer term; those able and wanting to contribute at this time can look to trusted local channels in impacted areas, such as Council Facebook pages, where information is being shared and coordinated as needs emerge.
Being prepared remains an imperative for everyone, everywhere. Links below include bushfire preparation information from the CFA and RFS, as well as resources to plan for the first 72 hours of an emergency, via Alpine Shire Council. While the latter includes local references, the materials are useful across any locality, and translated versions are available.
