Celebrating The 2026 AVCLP Launch

Since 1998, the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Annual Program (AVCLP) has brought people together from across sectors and communities in North East Victoria and Border Regions, to deepen their understanding of place, purpose and people.

Last month we gathered at the Charles Sturt University Regional Study Centre in Wangaratta to celebrate the launch of the 2026 AVCLP, bringing the incoming cohort together with workplace and scholarship funders, Alumni and broader supporters.

We were fortunate to hear poignant reflections from our Alumni guest speakers, Michelle Critchley and Dr Werner Vogels PhD, who spoke about their experience of the program and the ways it has shaped their lives, leadership and enduring contributions to our communities. We also heard from our Patron, John Brown AO, who continued the tradition of launching the cohort, sharing his respect and optimism for the people who continue to step forward in service of something greater than themselves.

We look forward to introducing our cohort individually over the coming weeks, showcasing the diverse industries, interests, and communities they represent.

Thank you again to our supporters of the 2026 AVCLP: Alpine Shire Council, Border Trust, Boys to the Bush, Country Fire Authority, Wodonga Council, Community Bank Mansfield and District, Gardiner Foundation, GOTAFE, Indigo Shire Council, Into Our Hands Community Foundation, John C Mitchell Scholarship, June Canavan Foundation, Mansfield Shire Council, Mt Buller Ski Lifts, North East Catchment Management Authority, Parks Victoria, Regional Disability Advocacy Service, Rural City of Wangaratta, Telstra, YCDCo. ; with support from the Handbury Foundation, Star FM 92.1 & 102.1 Edge FM, Wangaratta Turf Club.
