As the 2025 Annual Program nears its end point, the cohort visited Bright to consider the intersectionality of workforce, housing, and tourism.
Celia Adams, CEO of Beyond Housing, spoke about the organisation’s work to address housing need within a complex and often competing environment, where progress requires balancing economic realities, policy, and wellbeing.
Natalie Ajay (AVCLP Alumni, Board Member of Alpine Resorts Victoria and Murray Regional Tourism), and Steve Belli (AVCLP Alumni, Board Chair, and wearer of a range of hats in the Alpine region), shared perspectives on workforce and tourism, highlighting the impact of seasonality, the importance of advocacy, and the role of local leadership in building sustainable regional economies.
In light of recent events in Porepunkah, the cohort did not undertake a tour of the Bright Police Station, as has been the case in previous years. Instead, Steve spoke about the recovery process, offering insight into coordination, leadership, and the conditions communities are navigating as the situation evolves.
The day concluded with a tour of Bright Brewery, where Scott Brandon, Owner and Founder, shared how consistency, values, and commitment to place have shaped the business and contributed to Bright’s economic and community life. Participants stayed on afterwards for a networking session, continuing conversations and connections from the day.
