With boots on and curiosity aplenty, our Annual Program participants gathered alongside Alumni in Gundowring last week for a deep dive into systems thinking, leadership, and the regional dairy industry – made possible through the support of the Gardiner Foundation.
Dr Gary Saliba opened the day with a workshop exploring what it means to lead in a volatile and uncertain world. Through the lens of complex adaptive systems and the Cynefin framework, participants unpacked the difference between complicated and complex challenges, and considered how our internal maps of reality shape the way we lead, decide, and respond to change.
Fiona Elgin (Interim Executive Officer, Murray Dairy) brought depth and perspective on leadership in the local dairy sector, sparking discussion on change, capability, and opportunity in the industry.
Stuart crosthwaite then delivered a guided tour of The Hermitage Dairy – connecting the morning’s theory to practice, and prompting reflection on how we engage with systems, people, community, sustainability, innovation and adaptation.
Thank you to Gardiner Foundation, our guest speakers, facilitators, Alumni and Annual Program participants for contributing to a day that expanded perspectives and deepened the connections needed to lead in an ever-shifting landscape.
