Education In Place

Education takes many forms across our region – shaped by place, people, and local priorities.

Last Friday, the 2025 AVCLP cohort spent the day in Mansfield exploring how learning is supported across a wide range of settings, needs, and life stages.

At Mansfield Autism Statewide Services, Judy Dixon introduced the group to their therapeutic, farm-based learning model, which supports students and their families in a tailored and hands-on environment, guided by their mission to empower and support autistic people to achieve their goals.

The group then visited Mansfield Adult Community Education (MACE), where Sally Matheson (Tomorrow Today) spoke about long-term investment in early years education in Benalla. Bonnie Clark (MACE) highlighted the role of adult education in strengthening community inclusion, and Mark Van Bergen (CUC Ovens Murray) shared insights on what makes local access to university study work in practice.

Thanks to all who shared their time and experience.
