The past 18 months have been a time of unforeseen change. Although our challenges may have been unique, the collective resilience and sense of community amongst individuals in North East Victoria has been second to none.
It makes sense that now is the time to look ahead, and nurture our emerging leaders. At a local level, community members are collectively looking for enhanced and structured leadership, in the form of practical and strategic thinking, collaboration, direction, planning, wisdom, and local knowledge. Our annual leadership program creates competent and well-equipped leaders who understand what it takes to lead in a regional environment.
Ask yourself, do you:
- Care for your community and want to make a difference?
- Want to be connected to the people that lead our North East Victorian communities?
- Want to meet like-minded people and make rewarding new friendships?
- Seek out new and collaborative ways to support and develop our region?
Then the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program is most definitely for you
Our 2022 Annual Program will deliver core features of previous programs: 3 overnight retreats, location based study tours, program days, skills workshops and graduation.
In addition, we rolled out a new Community Projects component as a part of the 2021 program, providing an opportunity for participants to undertake a community focused project and engage in a a learning format that is both active and experiential. Following the success of this component in the 2021 program, our 2022 program will also include Community Projects; each community project will be focused on achieving measurable outcomes that provide benefits to the region, in alignment with the Ovens Murray Regional Partnership Strategic Plan. Information around the projects undertaken in 2021 will be included on our website in November.
Another new feature of the 2021 program was that it was the first year our program was guided by a common learning and development framework, that was established through a collaborative effort between all Victorian Regional Leadership Programs. The framework acts as a guide for the development, delivery, and evaluation of our Annual Program, with a focus upon achieving quality and consistency amongst all Victorian programs. We are proud of our contribution to the development of this framework, and that AVCL participants will benefit from our high standard of learning that we can now hold to account at a state level.
Although this year has been challenging, the opportunities for growth, recovery and renewal are rich; we at AVCL are enthusiastic about our part in forging the way ahead. Applications for our 2022 Annual Program opened on Friday 13th August, with a number of scholarships made available for eligible candidates through our generous funding partners.
Note that applications can be made via our online application form, or by downloading the hard copy application form, both of which will be made available as of Friday 13th August. Applications will then close at close of business, Thursday 30th September.
